Summer Jump Start Program for Kindergartners

This free program will give your child a "Jump Start" to the school year by introducing developmental activities to support his or her transition to kindergarten. It will be taught by Glenwood Heights kindergarten teachers - not necessarily your student's assigned teacher. Even if your child attended a pre-school program, this will be a great introduction to kindergarten at Glenwood Heights Primary.

Begins: Monday, August 13

Ends: Thursday, August 16

Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm

Transportation will not be provided

Please contact the Glenwood office for Jump Start registration information.

Next school year will be a time of change at Glenwood Heights Primary.  Beginning July 1, Antonio Lopez will become Principal. Antonio is currently an Assistant Superintendent of School Performance for Portland Public Schools.  Our Assistant Principal, Damen Hermens, will be the Assistant Principal at Tukes Valley Middle School. Lori Schilling, currently Assistant Principal at Laurin Middle School, will have that position at Glenwood Primary.  Welcome Antonio and Lori!

Glenwood is still the third largest school in the district with 808 students and a staff of ninety-eight.  Enrollment is expected to increase to about 840 students and staff of over 100. Grade level staffing for next year:  Kindergarten – 8 teachers, 1st grade – 9 teachers, 2nd grade – 7 teachers, 3rd grade – 8 teachers, 4th grade – 6 teachers.   Three portables (six classrooms) will be placed on the Glenwood campus.  Location will be in the playfield, north of the Glenwood cafeteria. Six of the seven, second grade classrooms will be in the new portables and the other second grade classroom will be in the main building.  All kindergarten and first grade classrooms will be in the main building (seventeen classrooms). Kindergarten will be in the west wing and first grade in the west and east wings. Two health/fitness classes will continue to share the gym.  There will be staff changes including new teachers hired for the increased number of classrooms.

About Us

Glenwood Heights Primary is the iconic "community school," nestled among berry fields in a semi-rural area of Clark County in the southern end of the Battle Ground School District.  Our wonderful, dedicated staff and incredible students work hand-in-hand with an active Parent Teacher Organization ("PTO") and a large volunteer base to provide for the students.  In addition to the PTO, Glenwood strives to serve our students in a variety of educational programs such as LAP Reading and Math, English as a Second Language (ELL), Skills Centers, Structured Learning Center, Life Skills program and our Highly Capable Program.
