Kindergarten Smart Start: Aug. 30, 31, & Sept. 1

The purpose of Smart Start is to ease kindergartners into school in a way that supports their transition. Each kindergartner is assigned a parent conference and half day of attendance on one of the following days: August 30, 31, or Sept 1. The first full day of school for kindergartners will be Tuesday, September 5th. Look for more information about the Kindergarten Smart Start in a letter to arrive in late August.

Kindergarten students will attend based their assigned schedule. No district transportation will be provided for kindergartners on Smart Start days. Schedules will be mailed to each family by August 17th.

August 30th: full day of conferences for parents/guardians of kindergartners. There is no kindergarten orientation this day. This is the first day of school for 1st - 4th grade students.

August 31st 9:00 - 11:00 - orientation for 1/2 of the kindergarten students as assigned by school, followed by a 1/2 day of parent conferences.

September 1st 9:00 - 11:00 - orientation for 1/2 the other 1/2 of kindergarten students as assigned by school, followed by a 1/2 day of parent conferences.

September 5th - first day of school for kindergartners

    2017/18 Kindergarten Information

Nurses Note - Students cannot be be placed in a classroom until immunization records or exemption paperwork is complete. Avoid the rush, and get vaccinations early.

Student Safety - Students will only be released from school to guardians or emergency contacts. Be sure to submit accurate and complete contact information.

Visitors to School - Glenwood is a closed campus during school hours. All visitors must sign-in at the front office and visibly wear a visitor’s badge while on campus.  

School Pride - Our school mission is Learning for All in a Caring and Sharing Community. On Fridays we all wear red and white or Cubby gear. PTO makes popcorn for students once a month on a Friday.

School Expectations - Safe, Respectful, & Responsible. All students are taught and retaught our school expectations through Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS).

Class Lists - Class rosters showing your student’s teacher will be made available in August.

Advice to Beat Anxiety - Kids are attuned to their parents and guardians. Positive attitudes in parents promote positive behaviors in kids. The first days of school can be stressful. Be sure to maintain positive talk and body language, to let your kids know everything will be okay!
